What are some of the basic rules of the escape room game?
Your spymaster is in charge of the mission but won’t be involved in any direct action – that’s your job. He or she will remain in the shadows but will be evaluating your team for future work with this agency.
You will be scored on your ability to solve problems and complete your mission in the allotted time.
Complete your work quickly and accurately but working together as a team is critical to your mission. Everyone here brings unique skills and insights to the team. You cannot complete your mission working as a lone wolf.
Completing a mission will require you to be creative, cunning, logical, accurate but most importantly, observant. From here on out leave no stone unturned.
Take your time. Slow Is Smooth and Smooth Is Fast.
Choose a team leader before getting started! If you are absolutely stuck and the team cannot progress any further, your team leader, and only your team leader, may ask the spymaster for help.
While you are on assignment you are allowed agency issued equipment and tools only. Everything you need to complete your mission will be provided. So… no guns, knives, hand grenades, lock picks, or nuclear weapons. Leave your cameras and phones in the ready room- we’d hate to have classified information fall into the wrong hands.
Do not take anything from the rooms, except for memories and a thrilling time. It’s all physical evidence and will be required for future missions and new recruits. If you would like a souvenir or memento from your time with the Cozumel Detective Agency, please see your spymaster. Everything behind clear plexiglass stays there and does not need to be touched or manipulated.
Do not destroy the area of operations. Despite what you’ve seen in Mission Impossible or James Bond, nothing needs to be cut, torn, broken, pulled apart, forced open, defaced, burned or blown up to solved (unless otherwise directed). If you are observed doing so, you will be removed from your team and have a long talk with this guy.
No smoking while on duty. Villains are notorious for using explosives. Let’s not make their work any easier.
We are detectives, not electricians. – Leave the electrical outlets alone.
Similarly, if you are not a mountain goat, no climbing or standing on furniture, fixtures or your teammates. Everything you need to complete this mission is accessible with your feet planted firmly on the ground.
Don’t shine lights, lasers or plasma torches in your team’s eyes and for Pete’s sake don’t point guns or the Immodium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator at anything you do not intend to destroy.
